Ok, I know this is a Google blog and it could be seen as a bit cheeky to be posting this here but it has to be said. Google like many large companies really don't like giving support. It needs heavy staffing which menas lots of training and management. All of which is expensive and why bother when most of your 'clients' aren't paying. Well some of their clients are paying and quite a lot too. But that isn't really relevant as without out us their 'clients' they wouldn't have any paying clients. As a business model they appear to be quite successful. Sadly they, unlike Apple, haven't really learnt how to design reasonably intuitive interfaces. In fact the navigation is often very confusing with multiple menus without predictable paths. I wouldn't buy their new Nexus phone if the design of the interface was anything like the confusing mess on the Google accounts pages.
So in view of the confusing mess that Google have made of their GUIs (General User Interface) they could at least give some proper support to their users to be able to learn their way about. Well they have extensive FAQs which you could spend literally days drilling down through to find the answer you want. Alternatively you could post something on one of the many forums. First you would have to find the one that most closely related to your issue. Then post your question. If you're lucky and I mean really lucky and on a parr with winning the Lottery Jackpot you might get an answer from a member of Google's staff. Then you read the message and find yourself putting down the bottle of champagne you were about to uncork. The message merely directs you to an FAQ which you had already seen and which didn't answer the question then and certainly doesn't now. That may be because the FAQ was written by a programmer that didn't realise that the user doesn't have a degree in computer science or it could be it just completely missed the point of course. The more likely outcome of your posting is nothing, nothing whatever. You might wait days, weeks even years before getting a useful response. I have one still outstanding for two years, a question about Adsense. It seems to have generated a lot of interest as I'm not the only one with the problem. Sadly no one with any knowledge on the issue has responded to the now many contributors to the topic.
So if you want support on any Google product beware, it is something of a myth. Have you ever met a lottery winner?
