Kilimanjaro Climb in 2007

A pictorial record of our climb up Kilimanjaro August 2007. We made the ascent via the Rongai Route returning by what was popularly referred to as the 'Coca Cola' route. The Whole group of nine made it to Uruhu (the very top) and I don't think any of us claimed it was easy.

It was a very special trip and I would recommend it to anyone who likes walking.  Generally 4 - 6 hours walking a day uphill to varying degrees.  You need to be reasonably fit and youth isn't the advantage you'd think.

Good luck if you try it.

Use the links below to start the climb

Day one - Drive to Rongai gate then walk to First cave

Day two - First Cave to Kikewela Caves

Day three - Kikewela Caves to Mawenzie Tarn

Day four - Mawenzie Tarn to Kibo Hut

Day five - Kibo hut to Uhuru, the top at 5895 metres

Day six - Uhuru to Hrombo hut via the Marangu Route (Coca Cola Route)
